PAWS Volunteer OpportunitiesP.A.W.S. Youth Volunteers holding puppies at an adoption event
Cat Caretakers: The Greenfield Petsmart is home to several of our adoptable cats while they are waiting for their furever homes! They need care seven days a week -- feeding, watering, scooping litter boxes, sweeping, dusting, and, of course, playtime! Our Cat Caretakers are responsible for 1 (or more, if you so choose) day a week to provide care and love to our PetSmart kitties!
Low-Cost Spay and Neuter Programs: PAWS provides low-cost spay/neuter opportunities for cats and dogs living in Hancock County. PAWS transports 15-25 cats and dogs from the PAWS Center to the spay/neuter clinic in Noblesville. Volunteers are needed to assist with pre-registration and checking the animals in and out during transport.
Sewing Circle Partners: PAWS volunteers make all sorts of items for PAWS to sell to raise the money needed to house and care for our rescued cats, kittens, dogs, puppies, and bunnies. If you're an expert seamstress or just a beginning sewer, we need your help. One of our biggest fundraisers is the sale of our catnip toys. We sell about 7,000 a year at the PAWS Center, festivals, and through 30+ outlets around central Indiana. That means we need to make 7,000+ catnip toys each year! We also need volunteers willing to make pet beds and clothes to sell. PAWS provides all the materials. Housekeepers: Do you have a couple of hours a week and like to clean? If so, we can use your help! Our PAWS Center needs light cleaning 1-2 days a week to keep it nice and tidy! Since our animals are not housed there, the cleaning would just consist of dusting, vacuuming, and cleaning a small, half-bath. Committee Members/Leaders: If you have ideas to share you should consider sitting on a PAWS committee. Our group needs organized volunteers to help plan and execute the operations that make PAWS run successfully. We have openings for the following committees: Fund-raising, Education, Membership, Volunteer and Community Service.
Fundraising Events: Festivals: PAWS has booths at local Indiana festivals. We sell pet-related merchandise and miscellaneous items. Volunteers are needed to set up the booths, operate them, and take down the booths at the end of the events. Duties would include making sales, collecting payments, making change, and restocking merchandise. PAWS Pool Party: Back-to-school time brings the closing of the Riley Park Pool. In conjunction with the Greenfield Parks Department, PAWS hosts a pool party for dogs and their owners and a dog dive contest the first Saturday after the pool closes for the season. Volunteers are needed to run the concession stand, serve as DJ, sell merchandise, take tickets and to set up the dog dive and obstacle course contests. |
