If only Matthew could talk! We would really like to know how he got in such terrible shape. A good Samaritan found him standing by the side of a busy 4 lane highway and took him to the local animal shelter. That small act of kindness saved Matthew's life. The shelter turned him over to P.A.W.S. the next morning. We immediately took him to the vet. MATTHEW BEFORE:  Words can hardly describe what Matthew looked like. Almost his entire body was encased in hair so badly matted that it formed a felt cast that was 3"-5" thick around his head, belly and legs. We couldn't even tell if he was a boy or girl. The matted hair on his left front leg had partially cut off cirulation to his paw and had cut through the skin almost to the bone. His hind legs were so encased in matted hair that he could barely walk. It was almost impossible for him to sit or lay down. Many of his teeth were black and rotten and had to be pulled.  The vet and groomer worked for over three hours to free Matthew from his hairy prison.
MATTHEW NOW:  Today, Matthew is a "born again" dog.  The wounds on his legs are almost completely healed, he's put on weight and he's learned to walk and even run normally. His chocolate colored fur is growing back curly and shiny. He is housetrained and crate trained.  He's ready to find a new forever home to give him the kind of life he truly deserves.  Matthew is neutered, vaccinated and tested negative for heartworms.  DOB: 1999/2000
