Bearded Collie / Australian Shepherd / Mixed (long coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Adult : : Medium Learn more about the Bearded Collie. Learn more about the Australian Shepherd.
Teri is a former member of our "Bean Blossom Gang". She was found living with 16 other abandoned dogs in kennels [along with a number of dead animals]. They were starving and had obviously been on their own for quite some time. We rescued 7 of them and we allowed the "beanies" to remain together as a pack. Teri was the "Omega" dog -- at the bottom of the pecking order -- and about a year ago, when there was a power struggle within their pack, we removed her from the pack to prevent her from being injured. Since then, Teri has had a private kennel and we have been working with her to help her overcome her shyness. She is doing very well. She walks well on a leash. She has been bathed, brushed, and trimmed both with scissors and with clippers. She comes when called and respects a fence. She will dig a hole in the yard from time to time. She knows "stay", and has been taught not to jump on humans. She is also learning how to play with a ball and other toys. She is still shy and timid with people she doesn't know. She has been well behaved at the vet's office. Because Teri has never lived in a true "home" setting, we don't know if she is reliably housetrained. She would definitely need to be crated at first when left home alone. Teri needs a person who will continue to work with her on learning to trust people and be more confident with herself. Teri needs a fenced yard or an owner who is committed to exercising her every day on a leash. Teri is spayed, fully vaccinated, tested negative for heartworms and on monthly heartworm & flea preventative.
