Dolly Mama is our current special needs dog.  We rescued her from the Rushville Animal Control Shelter on February 23.  She had been abandoned by her owners and was VERY pregnant, making her a high candidate for euthanasia.  When we took her to the vet for a pre-deliver check-up, we discovered she is also heartworm positive. 

On March 17, Dolly delivered TEN puppies -- six boys and four girls.  The puppies will be weaned ready for adoption around May 8.  We'll need to give Dolly a few weeks to recover from feeding and caring for such a big litter, but then she'll begin her heartworm treatment.  That treatment will take 3-5 months and PAWS will spend about $1,000 on Dolly's treatment and her care and feeding.  Donations to the PAWS Dolly Mama Fund are greatly appreciated.
